Student & Teacher Policies
Registration
To register, students will need to schedule a phone consultation, which typically takes about 10 minutes. During this consultation, their current ability level, musical interests, and lesson goals will be discussed, along with determining the best lesson day and time that fits their schedule. Based on this information, they will be matched with the most suitable teacher and added to that instructor's schedule.
Lesson Schedule
Weekly Commitment: Lessons take place once per week. This consistency is essential for building momentum and achieving meaningful progress.
Securing Your Weekly Time Slot: When you enroll, you are reserving the same day, time, and location for your lesson every week. This guarantees a consistent schedule for you and helps ensure steady progress. Your reserved time slot is held just for you, so regular attendance is key to making the most of your lessons.
Student Portal
After registering and scheduling a lesson time, students will receive an email with instructions to access their online student portal. From there, they can conveniently view invoices, make payments, check their lesson schedule, and access lesson materials and instructor notes—all within one secure and easy-to-use platform.
Billing and Payment Policy
No Long-Term Commitment: Outbound Music Lessons offers month-to-month billing, so you’re not locked into a long-term contract. Payment is due on the 1st of each month.
Monthly Rates (Includes 4 Lessons Per Month)
$160 per month: 30-minute lessons (once per week)
$220 per month: 45-minute lessons (once per week)
$280 per month: 60-minute lessons (once per week)
How to Pay: Invoices for the upcoming month are sent via email, and contain a ‘Pay Online’ button for your convenience. You will also find your current invoice on the home page of your student portal. To access the portal, visit outboundmusiclessons.com/login. From there, you can make payments using a credit or debit card through our secure payment system, powered by Stripe.
Pausing or Discontinuing Lessons: If you need to take a break or stop lessons, please let us know before the end of the current month. If you pause, we cannot guarantee that your original time slot will be available when you return.
Five Week Months
Your monthly tuition covers four lessons per month, but some months have an extra lesson day. To ensure flexibility while maintaining a consistent schedule, when this happens:
If you’ve missed a lesson that month, the extra week will serve as your makeup.
If you attend all five lessons, the extra lesson will be banked as a make up credit for a future qualifying absence.
Cancellations & Make Up Lessons
Student Cancellations
24-Hour Notice Required: If you need to miss a lesson, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. We will do our best to schedule a make up lesson within the same billing cycle.
Late Cancellations: Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may not be eligible for a make up lesson credit.
Make Up Lesson Availability: One designated weekend make up day will be offered each month for students with make up credits. If you have an eligible missed lesson, you may use this opportunity to schedule a make up, pending availability. While we do our best to accommodate, make up lessons are not guaranteed.
Weather Cancellations
Outbound Music Lessons does not automatically follow school closings for weather-related cancellations. Each instructor will make their own decision regarding safety and will notify you if a lesson needs to be canceled. If you feel that it is unsafe for your instructor to visit your home due to the weather or road conditions in your area, please contact Outbound Music Lessons or your instructor directly as soon as possible. All lessons canceled due to inclement weather will either be rescheduled or credited on your next invoice.
Instructor Cancellations
In the rare event that an instructor needs to cancel a lesson, the lesson will be rescheduled or credited on your next invoice. We strive to keep instructor cancellations to a minimum, as we understand the importance of consistency in the learning process. If students feel that their instructor is missing too many lessons, they are welcome to reach out to us to discuss any concerns.
Leave of Absence
We understand that kids are involved in many activities throughout the year, and sometimes life can bring unexpected challenges. If you need to take a leave of absence due to illness, injury, or other long-term situations, please reach out to us. We will work with you to accommodate your needs and ensure that lessons can resume when the time is right for you.
Termination of Lessons
If you need to terminate lessons, please notify our office at least 14 business days before your billing date. We understand that circumstances can change, and we’re here to help make the transition as smooth as possible. Students are expected to complete the month they are currently enrolled in, allowing for a respectful and organized conclusion to their lessons.
Student and Teacher Safety Guidelines
Home Environment
Lessons should take place in a well-lit, clean, and distraction-free environment. This ensures that students can focus fully on their music education. Lessons cannot take place in a bedroom, and any doors to the lesson space must remain open for the duration of the lesson. It's important to create a comfortable and safe setting that supports effective learning.
Parental Presence
For lessons with students aged 17 or younger, a parent, guardian, or other authorized adult (at least 18 years old) must be present in the home during the lesson. This policy not only adds an extra layer of comfort and security for both the student and the instructor but also ensures adherence to our safety standards. If no appropriate adult is present, the lesson will be canceled and charged as a same-day cancellation.
Background Checks
All of our instructors undergo comprehensive background checks before being hired to ensure the safety and well-being of our students. We take this responsibility seriously and are committed to providing a secure learning environment.
Professional Conduct
Our instructors are held to a high standard of professional conduct. They are expected to maintain a respectful and professional demeanor at all times. Any inappropriate behavior will be addressed immediately to uphold the integrity of our program and ensure a positive experience for every student.
Open Communication
We encourage open lines of communication between students, their families, and our office. If there are any concerns or questions, we’re here to help. Students and parents are encouraged to reach out to us directly with any issues, ensuring that everyone involved in the learning process feels supported and heard.
